  • Employment enables personal growth and provides a sense of belonging, meaning, and self-worth.  
  • Employment is one of the key factors that help create new meaning following a loss. In recent years it has become evident that employment is essential for the individual, family, and community. 

What can you receive?

  • Guidance through a variety of paths including: job placement, volunteering, vocational training or education.

  • Personal career guidance: Career counselors are available in each district. They will guide you through the process and assist in identifying and refining your specific employment needs. The counselors can help you writing your resume, preparing for job interviews and tenders, building a profile on social networking platforms, networking, and even reaching out to employers.

Once every few months, our career counselors conduct Zoom workshops on various topics from the world of work for the whole family.

You should know:

  • Employers are prohibited from dismissing a bereaved family member during the first year of mourning. 

  • Bereaved parents, widows and widowers are legally entitled to work at their workplace for up to 5 years beyond the retirement age (until the age of 72).

  • The employment coordinator and the counselors in the districts can contact employers to ensure the exercise of rights and approval of personal requests.

  • All family members are entitled to legal aid regarding labor laws, through the Legal Aid Division at the Ministry of Justice.

  • Bereaved family members are entitled to paid leave from the workplace on Memorial Day.
