Accessibility Arrangements - Memorial Day 2026
Accessibility arrangements for state ceremonies to be held at military cemeteries on Tuesday, April 21, at 11:00
The Department of Families, Commemoration and Heritage promotes accessibility for people with disabilities at military cemeteries and national memorial sites across the country.
Accessibility at military cemeteries
General - Due to the expected crowding on Memorial Day at the entrances to cemeteries, it is recommended to arrive early in the morning to find nearby parking and avoid hour rush.
Parking spaces - Reserved parking spaces for people with disabilities have been designated near the entrance to each parking lot at military cemeteries. The police will be instructed to allow accessible parking as close as possible to the cemetery entrance. Please ensure your disabled parking permit is valid.
Accessibility to ceremony areas - People with disabilities can access the main ceremony areas at military cemeteries, where designated seating will be allocated for individuals using wheelchairs and accessible seats.
Assistance in reaching a burial plot or ceremony area - Soldiers will be stationed at the entrances to military cemeteries to assist people with disabilities in locating the burial plot of the fallen and reaching the plot or ceremony area.
Accessible restrooms - On Memorial Day, accessible restroom facilities will be installed at all military cemeteries.
Transcription and sign language - For specific requests for transcription and/or sign language interpretation, please contact the call center at 03-7776700.
Audio guidance at cemeteries - An audio guidance system called Step Hear is available to assist people with visual impairments in navigating the site. To use the system, you must install the application on your phone.
