Exemption from Mortgage Registration Fee

Exemption from paying the fee at the land registry office in the Ministry of Justice (land registry extract)

Who is this page for?
    Bereaved Parents
    Widows and Widowers
    Orphans

What can you receive?

When you get a mortgage, you must pay a fee to ensure that the property is registered in your name at the land registry office (land registry extract). Bereaved families are eligible for an exemption from the mortgage registration fee.

The eligibility is granted to bereaved parents, widows and widowers, and to orphans under the age of 30 who were recognized before the age of 21.

For your attention

The exemption does not apply to the opening of a file in the bank, but only to the cost of registering the mortgage with the Land Authority.

How to apply?

The Department of Families, Commemoration, and Heritage is responsible for issuing a certificate of recognition as a bereaved family but does not grant the exemption itself. The review and decision regarding eligibility for the exemption are made by the land registry office.

An application for a recognition certificate for the purpose of the mortgage fee exemption must be submitted through your account.
