Orphan Accompaniment Program
A personalized program for every child, aimed at nurturing strengths and talents, providing support, and assisting in empowerment and growth
What is the accompaniment program?
The accompaniment program is designed to provide personalized assistance to orphans aged 0-18. A plan is designed for every orphan to provide a supportive framework, with focus on the key milestones before the age of 18: starting first grade, Bar or Bat-mitzvah, entering middle school and high school, preparing for enlistment, and more.
The program helps identify the child's strengths and skills, and addresses challenges and barriers, with the aim of building emotional resilience, realizing potential, and fostering growth.
Areas of focus:
Fostering special talents in the child's fields of interest.
Strengthening emotional bonds within the family and close circles.
Developing social skills.
Academic success and improved performance at school.
The program has been operating in its current format since August 2020. Within its framework, personalized mentoring plans were developed for hundreds of orphans. Children with talents in music, sports, and theater received support and advanced. Children facing challenges at school, in learning, and in social relationships received assistance that enabled them to manage them optimally, and many children and teenagers were empowered and enriched their lives through the program.
Our goal at the Department of Families, Commemoration, and Heritage is to guide young orphans toward independent adult lives. The aim is to foster a sense of competence, connect them to their strengths, and develop their capability to face challenges.
The program is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Defense, the Department of Families, Commemoration, and Heritage, and the IDF Widows and Orphans Organization.

"The professional who visited L's home heard him sing and play music and helped him shape a direction that could develop his musical talents. L was deeply moved by the encouragement he received and is now focused on the areas he intends to develop".
