Education and Vocational Training

Funding for academic education, vocational training, or professional development to establish a career.

Conditions for receiving funding: 

• Funding is provided to those who have not previously received assistance for education or vocational training from the department. 
• Funding is provided to those without a profession (unless professional development is required to establish a position at work). 
  

Scope of funding:  

• Funding for undergraduate education or vocational training is provided for the standard duration - until obtaining a bachelor's degree or professional certificate.
• Funding for professional development to establish a career is provided according to the requirements of the approved course.

Amount of funding:  

• The participation amount will be determined based on the actual cost of education, up to the annual tuition fee at a public university in Israel as set by the Council for Higher Education. 

Additional assistance for education:

• Assistance for purchasing books: up to 440 ₪Last updated on 1.1.2026.
• Assistance with registration fees: up to 476 ₪Last updated on 1.1.2026.
• A one-time grant for studying in a preacademic preparatory program if required for admission (up to 24,034 ₪Last updated on 1.1.2026), completing matriculation exams (up to 17,000 ₪Last updated on 1.1.2026), or taking supplementary courses required for admission (up to 2,947 ₪Last updated on 1.1.2026 per course).

You should know: The assistance is intended for those were orphaned before the age of 21, are under 30, and have not yet received educational funding from the department.

Tuition or vocational training funding:

• Academic education at a university: up to 12,017 ₪Last updated on 1.1.2026.

Additional assistance for education:

• Assistance for purchasing books: up to 440 ₪Last updated on 1.1.2026.

• Funding monthly living expenses for those whose program includes a schedule of at least 18 weekly hours.
• A one-time grant for studying in a preacademic preparatory program if required for admission (up to 24,034 ₪Last updated on 1.1.2026), completing matriculation exams (up to 17,000 ₪Last updated on 1.1.2026), or taking supplementary courses required for admission (up to 2,947 ₪Last updated on 1.1.2026 per course).

Funding for academic education or vocational training.

Conditions for receiving funding:

• Funding is provided to bereaved parents who have not previously received assistance for academic education or vocational training from the department. 
• Funding for undergraduate education is available to bereaved parents who began studying before the age of 60.
• Funding for vocational training is available to bereaved parents who began studying before the age of 65. 

Scope of funding:

• Up to 3 years for undergraduate education.
• Up to 4 years for engineering and law programs.
• Until the completion of vocational training (and for no more than 3 years).

Amount of funding: 

• The participation amount will be determined based on the actual cost of education, up to the annual tuition fee at a public university in Israel, as determined by the Council for Higher Education.

Participation in funding academic education or vocational training.

Conditions for receiving funding:

• Funding is provided to bereaved siblings who do not hold an academic degree.
• Funding is provided to those who have not received education funding in the past.
• Funding is provided to those who began studying before the age of 40.
• If education is funded by the parents, the parents will receive the grant. 
• Funding for bereaved siblings in mandatory military service will be subject to approval by IDF authorities.

Scope of funding: 

• Up to 3 years for undergraduate education or post-secondary education.
• Up to 4 years where the duration of the program is over 3 years.
• Until the completion of vocational training (and for no more than 3 years).

Funding amount: 

• The participation amount is 40% of the actual cost of education, and up to 40% of the annual tuition fee at a public university in Israel, as set by the Council for Higher Education (up to 4,518 ₪ per year, as at the 2023/2024 academic (year.

Please note, eligibility for education funding for fiancées and fiancés is available for 5 years from the fallen's death. For example, if you begin studying 3 years after the loss, funding will end after two years of study.
