Change in the Provision of the Distress Signal Benefit
As of January 2025, a change was made in the provision of the distress signal benefit, with the understanding that the need for a distress signal is a constant medical necessity associated with age
Dear Families,
As part of the process to improve the services provided to the department's beneficiaries, we are pleased to announce that this month a change has been made in the provision of the distress signal benefit, as we understand that the need for an distress signal is a constant medical necessity associated with age.
Family members who are applying for the benefit for the first time, starting from November 2024, will be required to submit to the relevant district a receipt or contract and a medical approval, as required according to the directive. The benefit will be paid automatically once a year according to the fixed rate outlined in the directive.
The automatic change will also apply for those who have already received the distress singal benefit for a period ending in November 2024 (and after), once a year for the next 12 months based on the expiration date of the last benefit recorded for them.
For those whose last benefit expired before November 1, 2024 – the automatic benefit will not be activated at this stage, and they will need to contact the relevant district to initiate the process for continued assistance.
