About volunteering in the department
The Department of Families, Commemoration, and Heritage provides social services to bereaved families. Additionally, the department operates a volunteer program aimed at providing supportive and meaningful human connections.
The department's volunteers express the greatness of the spirit of Israeli society in their actions. They add to the support provided by the department's staff, and the relationships they establish with the families rely on trust, inclusion, support, and listening. An eye that sees, an ear that listens, and a heart that understands.
What do the volunteers do?
Keeping weekly contact with the family – home visits or phone calls.
Accompanying the family and creating a social, human, and supportive connection to alleviate loneliness.
Assisting with specific tasks according to the family's needs.
Who is volunteering suitable for?
Men and women with goodwill and a willingness to create warm and empathetic human connections.
People who are capable of coping with emotional challenges.
People who are open to learning and personal development.
People who are capable of traveling for this people (in their area of residence).
You should know
An interview for introduction and evaluation is required.
Training and professional guidance will be provided throughout the volunteering period.
Participation in monthly training sessions is required.
An official volunteer certificate of the Ministry of Defense will be awarded.
Volunteers are insured by the National Insurance Institute throughout the volunteering period.
A commitment to one year of volunteering and a weekly meeting at the family's home is required.
