Grants and loans for home purchase for orphans

What can you receive?

Grants

Housing grant 

Children of the fallen who are unmarried and purchase a home before turning 30 are eligible for a one-time grant of 139,265 ₪Last updated on 1.1.2026 (80% of a marriage grant). 

If, after receiving the housing grant and before turning 30, they get married, they can receive the difference (the remaining 20% of the marriage grant) between the marriage grant and the housing grant they have already received. 

Grant at the age of 30

Children of the fallen who turn 30 and have not yet married or purchased a home are eligible for a one-time grant equal to a marriage grant 174,082 ₪Last updated on 1.1.2026

If they previously received a housing grant, they can receive the difference (20%) between the housing grant and the age 30 grant when they turn 30. 

Loans

Orphans under the age of 30 can receive a loan of up to 36,418 ₪Last updated on 1.1.2026 for marriage or housing purposes provided they present a registration certificate from the rabbinate or a purchase contract.

Loan guarantee 

You must provide the bank with guarantors for the loan, who will commit to repaying the loan to the bank in case you are unable to pay. 

The guarantors can sign the guarantee at any branch of the bank, not just the branch where you chose to apply for the loan. 

You should know

Eligibility for loans applies to those who were orphaned before the age of 21. 

Eligibility for grants also applies to those who were orphaned between the ages of 21 and 30. 

Orphans experiencing a second loss

Orphans whose both parents fell in service: Eligible for a 200% marriage grant.

How to apply?

What happens after you apply?

  • We will respond within 25 business days from the receipt of all required documents. If there is any delay, we will make sure to inform you. 
  • After eligibility is approved, the grant will be included in the benefits slip, and the loan will be processed through the First International Bank of Israel. 

Stages of loan approval

  1. In the first stage, you must submit the application and documents through your account. 

  2. The application will be reviewed by a welfare worker, who will respond within 26 business days regarding eligibility for the loan. 

  3. Transferring your details to the bank - after receiving the details, the bank will send you a notification that the loan can be received at any branch of the First International Bank of Israel, at your choice. 

  4. The referral for the approved loan will be valid for 4 months only, and the loan must be utilized at the bank before it expires.

  5. Loan utilization - the bank will notify you via SMS about the transfer of the loan to your account. From this stage, the loan repayment amount will be deducted monthly from your benefits.

Loan guarantee

  • In some cases, it is necessary to present guarantors to the bank for the loan. The guarantors will commit to repaying the loan to the bank if you are unable to pay.  
  • The guarantors can sign the guarantee at any of the bank's branches, not just the branch where you chose to apply for the loan. 

Modification or cancellation of the loan

If you need to cancel an approved loan, or shorten or extend the repayment term, please inform the welfare worker.
