What is assistance for purchasing a mobility scooter?

A grant for purchasing a mobility scooter is provided to parents and widows with medical mobility limitations.

Conditions for receiving assistance

  • Approval of eligibility must be obtained from a welfare worker before you make the purchase. 

  • The assistance can be utilized once every 4 years.  

  • A single parent or widow who chooses to receive assistance for purchasing a mobility scooter will not be able to utilize assistance for purchasing a vehicle in the next 4 years.

  • A parent or widow residing in a nursing facility funded by the department is not eligible for this assistance.

How to apply?

To receive reimbursement for a purchase made, please log in to your account and submit:

  • Digital inquiry form
    The form will be issued through a welfare worker. Both bereaved parents must sign the form.

  • Medical certificate
    Indicating a mobility limitation. In the case of a couple applying for a double mobility scooter/two single mobility scooters - a medical certificate must be provided for each parent. 

  • Photocopy of an invoice or original receipt 
    In the name of the parent or widow.

If necessary, we will contact you and request additional documents.

What happens after you apply?

  • We will respond within 25 business days from the receipt of all required documents. If there is any delay, we will inform you. 
  • After eligibility is approved, the financial assistance will be transferred via the benefits slip.
