What is assistance for purchasing a mobility scooter?

A grant for purchasing a mobility scooter is provided to parents and widows with medical mobility limitations.

Conditions for receiving assistance

  • Approval of eligibility must be obtained from a welfare worker before you make the purchase. 

  • The assistance can be utilized once every 4 years.  

  • A single parent or widow who chooses to receive assistance for purchasing a mobility scooter will not be able to utilize assistance for purchasing a vehicle in the next 4 years.

  • A parent or widow residing in a nursing facility funded by the department is not eligible for this assistance.

What can you receive?

Bereaved parents

Single mobility scooter (single-seat model) for each parent, or a double mobility scooter (two-seater) for both parents. 

The assistance amount for a double mobility scooter is 19,189 ₪.

The assistance amount for a single mobility scooter is up to 13,494 ₪. A pair of parents purchasing two single mobility scooters will receive twice the amount of 13,494 ₪

You should know: Parents who choose to receive assistance for purchasing a double mobility scooter or reimbursement for two single mobility scooters will not be able to utilize assistance for purchasing a vehicle within the next four years. It is possible to purchase a single mobility scooter for one parent and receive assistance for vehicle purchase for the other parent. 

Widows and widowers

Reimbursement is available only for a single-seat mobility scooter (single-seat model), up to 17,988 ₪.

Orphans experiencing a second loss - recognized after August 1, 2011

If you were recognized after August 1, 2011, as an IDF orphan as both parents fell in service, or one parent fell in service and the other was killed in a hostile action, and you received recognition before the age of 37 - you can apply for assistance in purchasing a mobility scooter under the same conditions applicable to widows.

How to apply?

To receive reimbursement for a purchase made, please log in to your account and submit:

  • Digital inquiry form
    The form will be issued through a welfare worker. Both bereaved parents must sign the form.

  • Medical certificate
    Indicating a mobility limitation. In the case of a couple applying for a double mobility scooter/two single mobility scooters - a medical certificate must be provided for each parent. 

  • Photocopy of an invoice or original receipt 
    In the name of the parent or widow.

If necessary, we will contact you and request additional documents.

What happens after you apply?

  • We will respond within 25 business days from the receipt of all required documents. If there is any delay, we will inform you. 
  • After eligibility is approved, the financial assistance will be transferred via the benefits slip.
